How do I get to the Rur tour?
Getting started on your adventure is no big deal, and with a little planning it’s actually really easy!
🚗💨 By car
We don’t offer a shuttle service, but we have something much better: the Rurtalbahn! This train runs every hour between Zerkall (always departing at xx:50) and Heimbach, and the ride takes just 15 minutes. You buy the train tickets yourself (a day ticket, inexpensive). They aren’t included in your tour booking. So after the tour you’re back at your car in no time, along with your dry clothes.
Here’s how it works best:
Your tour starts at 11:15, for example?
→ Then take the 10:50 train!
Alternatively, you can come with two cars and shuttle back and forth yourselves (about 25 minutes each way). But honestly? The train is quicker, more relaxed, greener and usually cheaper.
Missed the train or want to start in Heimbach?
No stress! Just drive to the paid parking lot “Über Rur” in Heimbach and take the train back after the tour.
If you’re coming from Heimbach or staying there overnight, the train will easily bring you back after the tour.
🚘 Parking (free in Zerkall)
There’s free parking in Zerkall, only about 3 minutes’ walk from the platform.
Important: the parking spaces aren’t marked. Please park considerately so that everyone fits!

🚂 By train
Coming straight by train? No problem: just travel to Heimbach station. Trains (almost) always arrive on time, shortly before the tour (usually at xx:06).

📍 Meeting point in Heimbach
We meet at the “Kanu Abfahrtspunkt” (canoe launch point) in Heimbach. Just walk upstream and cross the small footbridge, and you’re there! You can’t miss it, promise.
