What’s the best way to get to the Heimbach Reservoir tour?
Heading to the reservoir? No problem, here are the perfect directions for your adventure!
🚗 Parking
You’ll easily find parking at the end of the street “In der Goldkuhl”, right up to the turning circle. Keep right there, walk through the barrier on foot and simply follow the “Grillhütte” (barbecue hut) sign. From here on, it’s all about fresh air! Allow about 15 relaxed minutes on foot to the water, perfect for getting a first taste of adventure.

🚂 Getting there by train
Take the train to Heimbach station. From there, it’s about a 45-minute walk towards the reservoir, through some really beautiful Eifel countryside. Too far for you? There may also be a bus or the leisurely little tourist train to the “Hasenfeld Post” stop. Best to check beforehand: Rureifel-Tourismus (in German) can help.
