Rent a kayak in Heimbach
Want to rent kayaks in Heimbach? If you know the Rur, you can rent a kayak from us and paddle on your own. Even so, we strongly recommend taking the guided Rur tour. It is safer, more relaxed, and you learn how to navigate spots on the river that are easy to miss without a guide.
Who can rent from us
Safety first! We only rent kayaks to people who know the Rur between Heimbach and Obermaubach because they have already paddled it with us. This is our prerequisite for renting a kayak from us on your own.
Even so, we strongly recommend the guided Rur tour as the safest and most relaxed option.
Renting our boats from the depot for self-pickup (and self-organised return transport) is always possible.
①
Paddled the Rur with us
You have joined the guided Rur tour with Kanu Petry at least once, so you know the current and the entry and exit points first-hand.
②
You know the Rur
You can judge water levels and know where to get in and out safely. We do not rent boats to first-time paddlers. That is what the guided tour with our experienced guides is for.
③
Personal responsibility
You paddle at your own risk, check weather and water levels before you start, and call it off in time if conditions change. When in doubt: take the guided tour instead.

Safety, water levels, weather
What to check before you start. In case of high water, thunderstorms or storm warnings nobody goes out, reservation or not.
Water levels & high water
We check the Rur water level daily. In case of high water we cancel and you get your money back.
Weather & thunderstorms
Get off the water immediately when thunderstorms are forecast. We reserve the right to cancel at short notice if conditions deteriorate.
Emergency & calling it off
Save our phone number before you start. If something goes wrong: call us, we'll come. And calling off a tour is always the right decision if you feel unsure.
