Who can rent a canoe or kayak from you?

Requirements for rental

We rent out kayaks (single and double) only to people who know the paddled section of the Rur. In practice, that means you’ve been on at least one guided Rur tour with Kanu Petry. That’s a matter of safety and insurance, not a sales filter.

Why so strict?

The Rur is a lively natural river with quirks you can’t see from the car: fallen trees can block the route overnight, the river is narrow in places, the water levels change, and you need to know the safe put-in and take-out points. Anyone who has paddled the route once with our guide knows these spots and can paddle safely on their own.

Never been on the Rur with us?

Then sign up for our guided Rur tour. It’s suitable for beginners, and next time you can rent a kayak from us on your own.

How does rental work?

Rental does not go through online booking, it works by inquiry. On our rental page you’ll find a form where you enter the boat type, your preferred day and the mode (paddle yourself or pick up boats from our storage). We’ll then get back to you by email with confirmation, price and date.

Children and rental

Children under 16 may only be on board as passengers, in a boat together with an adult who is allowed to rent. From 16, they can use a boat on their own, as long as the requirements above are met.

What happens in bad weather?

In case of high water, a storm or thunderstorm warning, or an official closure of the Rur, we cancel the rental. You get your money back in full or move your date free of charge.
