Is there somewhere to shelter from bad weather at the start or take-out?
A real outdoor adventure can handle a bit of rain, no need to panic!
At the Heimbach Reservoir and along the Rur there are simple shelters or public spots (e.g. bridges, trees, the tourist information office or the canoeists’ house) where you can take cover for a moment. It’s not exactly luxury, but it’s plenty for waiting out a quick shower!
Our tip: depending on the weather forecast, bring a rain jacket and a small umbrella, then you’re ready for any kind of weather. And a little bit of real adventure is part of the fun, right?
