Are there barbecue areas in the Rur-Eifel?
After an exciting canoe tour, there’s hardly anything better than winding down the day with a barbecue, and the Rur-Eifel has some really lovely spots for it.
Our barbecue tips for you:
-
Barbecue area right on the Heimbach Reservoir (in the village of Hasenfeld) (in German)
Right at the put-in and take-out of our Heimbach Reservoir tour. A great spot by the water, managed by the local village association, Dorfgemeinschaft Heimbach-Hasenfeld.
-
Barbecue huts around Nideggen (in German)
Ideal after a Rur tour: rustic, close to nature and perfect for groups.
-
Haus der Kanuten / Hürtgenwald tourist info point (right at the take-out in Zerkall)
Right at the take-out of our Rur tour. The perfect place to round off your paddling day with a barbecue.
Good to know:
We don’t offer any barbecue facilities of our own.
Please organize your barbecue spot in advance. That means:
- Ask or book in good time
- Name a person in charge
- Sort out cooling for everything going on the grill beforehand
You’ll find the links and contact details for each barbecue area on our website or by asking us.
Tip: A barbecue evening with a view of the water often stays in your memory just as long as the canoe tour itself. Well worth it!
