Can children join tours on the Heimbach Reservoir?
Yes! On our Heimbach Reservoir tours, children aged 7 and up are welcome to paddle along. It’s a great first adventure for little explorers, and the whole family has fun together.
What should parents keep in mind?
The lake may be calmer than a river, but one rule still applies:
👉 Children must be able to swim well.
It’s about everyone’s safety. Even on still water, a paddle stroke can miss or the boat can wobble.
How old do kids need to be?
In our experience, from around age 7 children have enough stamina and interest to really take part in the tour instead of just coming along for the ride.
We trust the parents
Parents know best how well their child can swim, and we trust their judgment.

Tip: Everyone gets a life jacket, of course, and a small snack in the boat helps when energy runs low for a moment!
